Transforming a tiny patio into a spacious porch (HANDY,“Porch Perfect,” April/May 2011, p. 26) can require a lot of concrete work. The foundation phase of our project included two new footings, an extension of the sidewalk/porch slab and a decorative protective coating to create a uniform, attractive surface.
