Storage Bench Project Plan
Build a versatile piece that looks great outside or inside your home
POSTED BY: Vern Grassel and Dan Cary
July 14, 2011
Perfect for a deck, patio or pool area, this solid-cedar bench is designed to provide comfortable seating and ample storage. Though it’s built to withstand outdoor exposure, it’s handsome enough that you might decide to keep it inside to hold blankets or firewood.
Construction requires only a few woodworking power tools: a router, a table saw, a drill and a jigsaw. We cut the grooves and rabbets using a table saw, but you could use a router table and a straight bit. Pocket-screw joinery keeps the frame assembly simple.
Note: The 1x6 and 1x8 cedar that we bought at a home center is 7/8 in. thick. If you are using 3/4-in.-thick lumber, you’ll need to make the appropriate adjustments.

The plans showed up for me. I am running Internet Explorer 9 and I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 8. You don' thave to have Internet Explorer 9, or Acrobat Pro, but you will need some version of Acrobat Reader. Open Reader, go into Edit, then Preferences. There is a list of stuff on the left, click on Internet. Uncheck Display PDF in browser and click ok at the bottom. If it was already unchecked, try checking it instead Adobe Reader is free, there are also other free pdf readers that you can download and install. Hope that works for you! :)

I use FireFox and I was able to get the plans. Go to tools - options - applications then select adobe acrobat file then select save document. Click on the article's "Click here to download ......". This way you will be able to download the file view it and then be able to save it to a location on your hard drive by selecting or generating a folder for such documents.

The Link works fine, but you must have Adobe Reader (or some other PDF reader) installed and active in your browser.

Got the plans without any problem (an accomplishment for me). Have on hand enough materials to do this project for the cedar deck I have and will look good.
