Salvaging school spirit
When the school where his wife works underwent an extensive remodel, Club member Fred Hagan of Bardstown, Kentucky, built this academically inspired table for the new lobby. All parts were salvaged from the facility: The oak was cut from old gym bleachers, and the chalkboard inlay was reclaimed when classrooms were upgraded with interactive whiteboards. In addition, Fred, his wife and a few other teachers rescued pieces of a mural from a cafeteria wall before it was removed, and Fred framed the pieces for display around the renovated building.
